The entirety of Hollow Knight’s lore is much, much too expansive & complicated to fit into a blurb for a versus fight, but to sum it up: The Kingdom of Hallownest was once a lavish, technologically advanced, joyous paradise populated by many bugs, set up beneath the earth. But when size doesn’t matter, which one of these tiny fighters can outwit the other? Though they barely measure above 2 cm, these half-pint heroes have shaken up entire ecosystems and taken on threats dangerous enough to threaten even humans like us. Sometimes, the most impressive of adventurers come in the smallest of sizes, like Olimar, captain of the SS Dolphin and leader of the elemental Pikmin, and The Knight, a vessel born of God and Void meant to contain an ethereal plague. From cockroaches surviving nuclear radiation to the small mammals that survived the extinction of the dinosaurs, we may rule now, but sooner or later, they will remain to roam the remains of Earth. Many years after war and plague and natural disaster wipes the planet from any and all human life, the only beings left to scavenge and pick up the pieces of our once vibrant planet will be the miniscule insects and invertebrates beneath our feet. It’s widely agreed upon by the scientific community, and even backed by history itself.
